Ecstra launches $2 million grant round to help strengthen economic security of women

Building financial wellbeing through employment

Ecstra Foundation today launches the $2 million Women’s Economic Security Project grant round. The grants support charities and established social enterprises building financial wellbeing through innovative employment opportunities and tailored financial capability support for women across Australia.

COVID-19 has magnified the pre-existing issues of economic insecurity facing many women in Australia. These include barriers to accessing employment, the burden of unpaid and low paid work, high levels of financial insecurity and inadequate superannuation savings.

“Money issues can affect the physical, mental and financial wellbeing of all Australians. Ecstra will back organisations creating meaningful employment opportunities for women who may be locked out of mainstream paid work, including young women entering the job market, older women seeking work, Indigenous women and refugee and migrant women,” says Caroline Stewart, CEO of Ecstra Foundation.

Ecstra invites applications from charities and social enterprises with expertise in designing and delivering sustainable initiatives with women including micro enterprises, small business creation, paid peer educator programs and targeted skill development.

Initiatives will integrate tailored financial capability and personalised support into their delivery, to help women build their financial confidence, reach their money and career goals and build a more financially secure future.

Applications are open until 12 February 2021.
