First Nations Australians

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples approaches, beliefs and views about money are influenced by historical, cultural, community and familial factors. These are distinct to Anglo-Australian beliefs about money and wealth accumulation.

Community-led responses which reflect the specific needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are therefore essential to achieving greater financial wellbeing and inclusion for First Nations communities. This must be backed by systems-wide change to address broader structural inequities.

Below is a selection of Ecstra Foundation partnerships that aim to help build the financial wellbeing and inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
