Our story
Ecstra invest’s in partnerships, programs and people to provide effective financial education at key life stages, and to improve community financial capability and wellbeing. Applying a systems approach to grant making, we evaluate and share the outcomes, insights and impact of our work.
We support consumer organisations in their work to address the many structural barriers to financial inclusion and economic security. Our partners include community legal services, financial counselling bodies, sector peaks and front-line service providers.
We also work in communities, schools and other learning environments to map, design, deliver and measure financial education initiatives that help build individual financial literacy, capability and confidence.
Our flagship financial literacy program, Talk Money with Ecstra Foundation is a free national program designed to help Australian school students learn money lessons for life, to be confident talking about money, and to make informed financial decisions.
Ecstra's initial funding was provided through Australian Securities and Investment Commission’s (ASIC) Enforceable Undertaking regime (namely community benefit payments), ensuring that consumers are always at the centre of our work.
