During Global Money Week our CEO, Caroline Stewart spoke on the need for a systems wide approach to help close the persistent gaps in financial education and literacy affecting many Australians, especially among young people.
We also invited primary and secondary schools across Australia to share their best ideas to "Learn, Save and Earn" for Global Money Week.
From our community, Global Sisters are hosting a 'Fixing Finance for Women in Micro Business' forum, and the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers are partnering with Banqer on a webinar on 'How Financial Education can bring certainty in an uncertain world'.

Whole systems approach needed to address financial literacy gap
As part of 2023 Global Money Week, Ecstra Foundation's CEO Caroline Stewart called for an overhaul of the existing education and support systems to help close the persistent gaps in financial education and literacy affecting many Australians.
The most recent Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey of over 17,000 Australians, by the Melbourne Institute, shows a concerning drop in financial literacy levels across all age groups, with the largest declines amongst 15-24 year olds.
