Australia’s financial wellbeing: an integrated approach

Ecstra Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of Australia’s financial wellbeing: an integrated approach, a new report authored  by Wellbeing Research and RMIT University, with funding from Ecstra.

The report finds Australia needs a more coordinated and integrated national approach to financial wellbeing as people navigate increasingly complex financial lives. It highlights that strengthening financial wellbeing through policy, research, regulation and education requires an integrated approach, coordinated across the life course and responsive to the major forces shaping our lives.

Like wellbeing more broadly, financial wellbeing is formed across multiple levels – individual, family, community, organisational, and national and global environments. Achieving effective and lasting change requires action across systems.

The report also explores how key forces – including technology, health and climate change – are reshaping financial wellbeing. It also reviews and updates our understanding of financial wellbeing more broadly, including the concepts of financial literacy and capability, and the latest evidence on what effective financial education looks like across the life course.
